Garbage to riches part1

Garbage Enzyme is an organic solution produced by the simple fermentation of fruit skins (never durian skin! You may use vegetable waste), brown sugar (or any raw unprocessed sugar….but never white sugar) and water, in a process similar to the process in which wine is made.
Garbage Enzyme is developed by Dr Rosukon Poompanvong from Thailand who is in alternative medicine and also a pioneer in Thailand’s organic farming. She has been actively involved in the research of enzyme for more than 30 years.

Let’s make garbage enzyme

1 ratio of brown sugar

3 ratios of fruit skins

10 ratio of  water in a plastic bucket

Add brown sugar

Stir to dissolve the brown sugar

Then add the fruit skins

Mix well

Garbage enzyme up-close

Cover securely

Keep in a cool dry place at room temperature. Fermentation will take place for 3 months, during which time you will need to release the gases formed once a day for the 1st month. Make sure you secure the cover after the gas release. For the 2nd&3rd months, only release any gases if necessary.

Sometimes there is white layer on the surface of the enzyme solution during the fermentation. Should any worms appear in the solution-DON’T PANIC. Add in a handful of brown sugar, mix well&cover. They will disappear overnight like magic! For more info, please view part 2 of Garbage to Riches!
